The hardest part of taking care of a baby is the constant waking up at night to take care of feeding, nappy change or soothing a fretful baby. I was cranky and just wanted to cover my head and pretend that I was not there. It was easier when my baby and I were still staying with my mother - my mother and 2 maiden aunts were there to help. When the baby cried or woke up in the wee hours of the morning, my mother was there to take care of the situation. When daughter #1 turned a month old, it was time to "face the music" so we packed our bags and went back to live my in laws' house.
A mother who constantly picks up her baby every time he frets or cries is in danger of "spoiling" the baby. If a baby of three or four months is picked up and cuddled every time he starts to cry he may come to expect immediate attention at all times. If he wakes up in the middle of the night and is not due for a feed, give him a chance to go back to sleep, even if it means that you like awake for several minutes. Do not encourage your baby to expect more than the necessary feed, change of nappy or cuddle. If you cuddle him back to sleep, do it without taking him out of the cot, or he may wake up the moment he is put back.
Wise words of advice. When daughter #1 cried and fretted, I used to get her from the crib, give her a bottle of milk while I cuddle her in my bed until she falls asleep. Hubby was usually told to "please get off the bed because you might squish the baby."

Ay naku..I had to learn the hard way. Konting ungot ng baby namin dati takbo ako sa kwarto nya. It took a while bago sya natutong matulog on her own.
ReplyDeleteAs for my new skin, I also like it. I should have had it changed a long time ago. The one who did it for me is a Filipina. Pang sideline nya. Just visit her site kung feel mong magpalit ng skin...
