My house is not so big. As a matter of fact, I could use a few more square meters. The last renovation my house went through was 6 years ago. I enlarged the kitchen to accommodate more cabinets and a larger working space. I also added a small wing to serve as the formal receiving area. Our formal living room is not that spacious. It could sit about 10 people comfortably. It's concept borders on a merger of Filipiniana and modernism. Our living room furniture is eclectic. I do not want to conform to standards by buying coordinated sets.
I have a bamboo sofa and armchair strewn with different shape sand shades throw pillows. I added some rattan and wicker chairs that I bought from a living room furniture store somewhere in Batangas. For my main coffee table, I preferred the seemingly twisted narra table I saw in one of my trips in the country side. For side tables, I bought round earthen wares tall enough for the purpose, painted them and put a round-cut glass on top. Flower arrangements are dried-colored wheat and rice stalks. On one wall hangs tapestries of indigenous Filipino materials. On one wall hangs vintage sepia pictures. Modern rugs are placed about the floor area while ottomans are strategically placed around the rugs. I love this room. It's so peaceful.
