AY 2012-2013 is almost over. Summer vacation is right around the corner. However, I don't think I'll be having a vacation anytime soon! My maid decided to leave. Just like that! It irks me so because I have numerous ongoing work! Aside from writing gigs, I still have to oversee the construction of a house I designed. The job specs include sourcing for materials and estimates, detailing and interior designing. I also need to assess the maintenance work needed for the church's school. One thing for sure, there is an immediate need to buy classroom chairs as most of the chairs in the elementary department are now broken.First thing first.

Kris Aquino is quitting showbiz? Didn't she say the same thing when P-Noy got elected as president?
News says that Ms Aquino chose the safety of her children, more so her son with James Yap, over her numerous shows that probably rake her millions on a monthly basis. It seems she is threatened by ex-husband James Yap. If we were to believe Kris Aquino, she claimed that Yap tried to seduce her on December 2012 at her home. After the failed seduction, Kris said James grabbed her arm, a scene that their son Bimpy saw.
Over at James Yap's camp, they say that no such thing happened. Yap said he jokingly tried to kiss Kris as Bimpy refused to kiss him. The alleged arm-grabbing was but a slight touch, according to Yap.
Whatever. Life is complicated enough. I don't think I have the energy to assess their predicament.

Quality guitars, whether they be electric, acoustic or classical, are not exactly cheap. You really have to be able to qualify what a good-sounding guitar is from a mediocre-sounding guitar. Sure, you can buy a guitar at bargain prices but it is likely that the music produced is akin to strummed tin or a wailing cut. If you were to ask me you should opt to buy Godin Guitars. Note that there are several labels under Godin - Norman, Art & Lutherie, Simon and Patrick, La Patrie and Seagull. Each label has its specialized guitar type, from entry level to high-range ones.
School is out! Summer is here! Thinking of summer activities for Ethan is at hand, again. His mommy thinks that this summer, Ethan should consider taking art classes. D2 think, he should enroll in dance class. D3 thinks he should be physically active in order to lose some weight. D4 and my son think that Ethan should do what he wants. I think, no matter what his activities are for this summer, Ethan should set a goal on reading books. How I wish I could find a summer camp for Ethan such as those listed in Teen Camp. What's good about this website is it's international and its list of "camps" is grouped into travel, adventures, sports, academics, religious and traditional.

It's not "Summer" as in season but "Summer" as in a puppy's name. In two weeks time, this cutie puppy poodle will be "home" with us. I think I better prepare Chuck (the brown labrador) and Cia (the red/brown Shih Tzu) that a new canine family member is coming.Oh, I wonder how Tabby will take to Summer.
I had to change eyeglasses again. The last refraction I had proved to be wrong! The grade was too high thus, the headaches. One of my friends has been telling me to go for laser surgery so that I don't need to wear glasses. However, since I wear progressive lenses, I still would have to wear reading glasses if ever I go for laser surgery. Anyway, I saw this real cool site wherein you can order a pair of reading glasses from ReadersOfTheMonth.com. . For $24.99 you get 3 pairs of reading glasses billed and shipped each month or every two months or every three months. Great savings!
Today is my mother's 80th birthday! We are treating her for dinner somewhere fancy. You might ask why we, the Party Styling Divas, are not throwing a party for her. Well, the surprise party will be next week. We have arranged for catering and invited relatives and friends. My daughters agreed that the theme will be "pastel". I think they are developing the theme now so that by tomorrow, we can buy the materials for the party styling. Anyway, here's wishing my mama a blessed and happy birthday! Mwah!

My cousin and her hubby are going back to SF (from Manila) next week. They are new retirees and have been staying here in the Philippines for close to 8 months now. They have to go back to the US for their annual medical checkup and to pay for taxes. I am not really sure but I think they are planning to transfer accumulated funds their life insurance to another life insurance policy. My cousin was browsing online for
additional 1035 exchange information to quickly facilitate their plans when they get back home to SF.
All four daughters and I are using iPhones. The one great feature of this Smart phone is that we could call, text and video call each other for free. Since we really 'love' to chat simultaneously, we thought of downloading Viber. This way, my son is included in the group. The trick to surviving Viber is to read the messages as soon as possible. One time, I did not bother to read the messages at once since I was busy doing something else. When I was ready to read the messages, there were close to 200! Now, why should I read all of them? Well, no one pushed me to read them but if I didn't, I'd be left out of the "conversation". It would be harder to "catch up".
D2, D3 and myself are busy sourcing for "work". We're not actually jobless but we're looking into ways and means on how to promote our newest venture - event styling. Oh, we can plan and move parties and events but as of now, we prefer to "style" events. Yes! Party Styling Divas is now on FB. We have some photos of past events up on the site. Meanwhile, we need to agree on a calling card. We just can't seem to make up our minds on the "style" PSDs calling card. Once we've decided, I think I'll order wholesale business cards at zooprinting.com
Forgiveness is the key which unlocks the door of resentment and the
handcuffs of hatred. It breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles
of selfishness.

If a man wants God to hear his prayer quickly, then before he prays for
anything else, even his own soul, when he stands and stretches out his
hands toward God, he must pray with all his heart for his enemies.
Through this action God will hear everything that he asks.

We cannot be right with God when we are wrong with others.

Heavenly Father: Teach us that love and forgiveness are essential
bridges that span the chasms of resentment and bitterness. Also, teach
us that feeling gratitude without expressing it is like wrapping a gift
and not giving it.

The price of gold has certainly escalated! And it certainly looks like, investing in gold is one of the safest way to invest. Currently, a gram of 24k gold is pegged at $51.16. Yes, the price per gram changes on a daily basis but based on its performance in the last 5 years, the price of gold has increased by 58.36%. How's that for ROI? I used to buy lots of gold jewelry when the price per gram was less than $10.00. The thing is, a large chunk of my gold jewelry collection was stolen or lost. Anyway, If you are interested in investing in gold, drop by goldeneaglecoin.com. Think of the future. Buy a gold bar or two!

I have not played the guitar for the longest time! Back in the days, I used to accompany myself with a guitar as I while-a-way the hours. My father gave me a beautiful-sounding Spanish guitar. I did only chords and that was quite satisfactory. My instrument is really the piano, but I can't very well carry a piano anywhere and anytime I feel like bursting into a song, can I?
One of my friends from church used to lug his electric guitar at every party. It was the 70s and it was quite funny to recall that this friend had to bring his amplifier wherever and whenever he and his Gibson guitar go. Anyway, not too long ago, I was able to chat with him online. I learned that he still actively plays his electric guitar, jamming with "old" friends. He said he now has a collection of wonderful Kramer Guitars that he sees to it get "played" every now and then.

I am in the middle of doing schematics for a 6-bedroom house. Yup! Six bedrooms with a roof deck and provision for a small pool and a garage/carport for 7 cars. Now, the size of the house is not really a problem. My dilemma is the lot area. The house, with its other rooms and spaces occupies a great part of the lot, leaving me not much space for the 7-car carport or garage. An idea that I could present to the owner is a
four post lift which would basically lift a car to a certain height so the space below could be utilized too. And oh! This is a great idea for keeping a car safe in case of flooding!
I received so many birthday greetings through FB and text messages.. Times have really changed. FB reminds its members who among their contacts is celebrating a birthday. All one has to do is post to that person's page and type a very generic greeting such as HP BD GB. The acronym stands for happy birthday, God bless. I personally thanked all those who remembered to send me blessings and good wishes on my birthday. But one letter stood out from the rest. It's a letter written by D2 (daughter 2). Here's a link to that very touching letter.
Thank you D2. It is wonderful to know that one is appreciated!

A couple of days ago, a local airline carrier had its twice a year super duper sale! The cost of a ticket is less than 10 cents. Well, that's the basic, so to speak, as there are additional costs for fuel, taxes and the likes. The reservation is online and one can just imagine the number of people who want to take advantage of this super duper sale. The thing is, the website kept hanging and displaying "error" sign. So, yup! D3 and I were not able to book one single flight.
On the other hand, my brother (who currently lives in NJ), won a free airline ticket to take him anywhere in the USA. On Spring break, he and his wife are flying over to NC to look over some Southport NC real estate. No, they are not actually looking in the hopes of buying a property there now, but, they are visiting a friend and thought to look over some real estate just in case they do decide to relocate in NC.

Sunday mornings are special. It's church time! This little girl looks forward to Sundays so she could go to church and join the Praise and Worship team, dance and sing praised to God! Today, she came late to church. The singing and dancing was done. After the worship, she stood in front (where and PAW team usually stay) and was patiently waiting for the singing to start. Poor baby girl, she was quite disappointed. Next Sunday then...

Akai has been in the forefront of digital music gadgetry for decades. Remember its MPC (Music Production Controller) range? Well, this time, a new addition is the "Fly". What is this? Musicians will love as the MPC Fly as the general gist of this hardware is for musicians to put down their ideas on the Fly (when inspired no matter when and where) and then work on them later at the comfort of a studio. The MPC Fly works in synch with the iPad 2 and apps such as sampling, sound library and effects are available. If you are into music composition and arrangement, you should buy MPC Fly.
Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes, our "trials" could be downright "trying" and sometimes, real funny, in a weird kind of way.
Last Friday, D1 and I took Ethan to MMC's ER. He has been suffering from urticaria (hives) and the medicines given by his dermatologist were not working. The rashes started on Monday night. By Friday afternoon, there was no improvement so we took him to ER. D1 dropped me and Ethan at the sidewalk by the ER's main entry. I must have misjudged the uneven surface of the pavement and next thing I know, I was sprawled (albeit gracefully) on the sidewalk with Ethan standing beside me with that " I-can't-believe-what-just-happened" look on his face. I tried to stand but can't! It is a good thing that a passer-by helped me up while the security guard and triage nurse rushed to me with a wheelchair in tow.
I was immediately taken to the triage and asked the usual stuff. Name, Age. Address. I told the nurse that I probably have a record already just to expedite the process.
Male Nurse: Ma'm , when did you hurt your ankle?
Me: Not more than 5 minutes ago.
I knew I should have cleaned my toes! |
The nurse gave me a queer look. He could not understand the speed in which I was able to bring myself to the ER. So! I told him that Ethan was the "real" patient. That my tripping and spraining my ankle were just incidental. The nurse and orderly wanted to take me to the treatment room ASAP so they could apply bandage and ice on my really painful right ankle and have an ER doctor look me over. I refused since I cannot leave Ethan alone at the ER's waiting room. It is a good thing D1 came waltzing in. When she saw me sitting on a wheelchair she thought that I was just cocky. When I told her what occurred, D1 gave me that " I-can't-believe-what-just-happened" face again.
So D1 had to scuttle back and forth between Ethan and myself. In the end, the orthopedic resident confirmed that I have no fracture, but Ethan was admitted. To make a long story shorter, we are both fine!. Thank you Lord!
