After finding out that I was pregnant, I asked myself, now what?. I do not know anything about pregnancy or child care. The only thing I know about being pregnant is that I have to buy maternity clothes and go see an oby-gyne. The only thing I know about child care is I know how to change cloth diapers from years of practicing on nephews and nieces. (To Eunice, Jay, Jerome, Gladys, Menge and Ayon: yes, the pin-prick scars on your butts were my doing.)
My first visit to the oby-gyne was uneventful. My doctor was a family friend so there was no initial feelers as we both know each other pretty well. I remember her giving me a medication to ensure that the fetus stay put in my uterus. I was ordered to take vitamins, quit smoking, stop drinking soda and coffee, lie-low on salty and fatty food and do some light exercises. Basically, I was ordered to live and eat clean. No problem.
It is a must to seek prenatal care once you are pregnant to help you prepare and look after yourself during your pregnancy. It also ensures that any medical problem that arises will be treated early.
