I read that these are the core beliefs.
1. Who you are requires no belief.
2. Heaven is not a location but refers to the inner realm of consciousness.
3. The man on the cross is an archetypal image. He is everyman and every woman.
The teachings are:
1. My mind is part of God's. I am very holy.
2. My holiness is my salvation.
3. My salvation comes from me.
4. Let me remember that there is no sin.
5. Do not make the pathetic error of clinging to the "old rugged cross".
6. The only message of the crucifixion is that you can overcome the cross.
Wow! Years ago, Oprah even denied that Jesus is the only way. She said that there are millions of ways to God. She said that at age 27, while, attending a Baptist Church Sunday service, she was jolted into another realm of doubt and belief when the pastor said that God is a jealous god.
At age 27, Oprah was not Oprah as she is now. She had no money nor fame. Is it possible that she made a deal with the dark force? Something like: Make me famous and rich and I will dedicate the rest of my life bringing about the fall of your arch enemy, Jesus! Ummm... not!
I have not been watching Oprah though.
Reminds of the great bluesman Robert Johnson who allegedly sold his soul to the devil for the blues prowess that he's had.
ReplyDeleteI believe Oprah was determined, hard working and she was also lucky in her timing. Selling your soul to the devil in exchange of a favour sounds wierder than what Oprah claims!
ReplyDeleteshe is really an influential person, i hope that she is not an anti-christ
ReplyDeletei think oprah is propagating new age beliefs. that encpompasses a vast range of philosophy that i have no inkling of.
ReplyDeleteTimes have changed. People, through history and logic have come to the conclusion of believing in what they want to believe following their own reasons. In some ways they have their own faith.
ReplyDeleteEach person is entitled to his/her own religion/beliefs. So what if Oprah is "starting a new church." It is still ultimately up to the people to choose and decide if they would follow her. It doesn't matter if she is influential or not, what matters is how strong the faith of the people are if they so choose to believe in whatever it is that they do believe.
Peace.
this post kinda scared me. i am not used to people making their own churches. that's all.
ReplyDeleteWe never watch her show... We also have a post about her. Here's the link.

Oprah's 4 interviews with Jill Bolte Taylor were the first that Oprah did after Eckhart Tolle and they take everything Tolle talks about to another level. Oprah's copy of Jill's book, MY STROKE OF INSIGHT, was dog-eared and all marked up and kept reading from it the way she read from A New Earth and recommended it highly.
ReplyDeleteOprah's recommendation was enough for me. I read My Stroke of Insight and I loved it too. This story is as inspiring as The Last Lecture or Tuesdays with Morrie - and even better, it has a Happy Ending!
I bought the book on Amazon because they have it for 40% off retail and they also had an amazing interview with Dr Taylor that I haven't seen anywhere else - Here is the Amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/My-Stroke-Insight-Scientists-Personal/dp/0670020745/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211471755&sr=1-2
