My husband and I were living with my in-laws when I first got pregnant. We occupied one large bedroom big enough to accommodate a crib, a baby cabinet and a playpen. The bedroom lacked closets so I had a carpenter build two large closets - one for me and one for husband. In between the two closets is a vanity table to store my "beauty" regimen products and other personal stuff. The bedroom was not air-conditioned. This was normal since in the early 80's very few homes had air-conditioning. Because our living quarters were housed on top of the family business, our bedroom was always dusty. I was really getting pissed as I had to use a variety of vacuum cleaners to clean the bedroom. The dust was not your ordinary dust. The dust was blackish-grayish and sticks everywhere. I told my husband that I cannot possibly have this "dust" situation when the baby comes. I gave my hubby 5,000 pesos and asked him to go buy me an air-conditioner. When my mother-in-law found out about my plan to buy an air-conditioner, she returned my 5K. OMG! I think I offended her. Very quietly she said, here's 25,000 pesos. Buy 5 air-conditioners for all the bedrooms. I did and we all lived happily dustless and cool.
