November 1 is All Saints' Day in the Philippines. It is that one time of the year where dear departed ones are remembered by the living. The 'remembering' is done by visiting the graveyard and bringing flowers. Most Filipinos "celebrate" the day by practically holding a family reunion at the cemetery. They bring food and drinks and live for a day in the cemetery. Some carry it even further by camping at the graveyard on All Hallow's Eve. Most foreigners find this Filipino custom quite strange and quaint. It has been my practice to buy fresh flowers at Dangwa, or more correctly, Laong-Laan St. near the University of Sto.Tomas, since my father's death. For the past eight years, I braved the human traffic at Dangwa. First, because of the bargain. Second,I enjoy the sight and smell of fresh flowers.Third, I enjoy doing my own flower arrangements. The picture shows Ethan and I in front of the flower shop where we bought gerbera and stargazers. Gerbera was at 250 php per 10 pcs while stragazers cost 120 Php per stem. I spent about 850 php that yielded two baskets of beautiful flower arrangements - according to moi!

  1. Visiting my parents grave on All Saints Day is one thing I was never able to do for my parents. The first All Saints Day after they passed, I was in Taiwan. I couldn't go home kasi it's just one day off. The following years andito na ko.

I also love the smell of fresh flower. Amd I'm sure your floral arrangements are even better kesa sa mga ibinebenta na ready-made.

    Thanks for the birthday greetings/wishes.

Para kayong siamese twins ni Ethan kasi laging magkadikit...kakainggit talaga.
