How much? How much did you say is the estimated cost of the US President's inauguration? One hundred fifty million dollars. But that's four times the amount that Bush spent for his inauguration and his detractors were livid then. What about now? Oh. Inflation. But with the US economy ( and the rest the world) in great turmoil, is it wise to spend such a big amount? I know. It's not my concern for I'm not a US citizen or tax payer or been laid off due to recession. Let them do the fuming.

I don't know if it's a good sign or a bad sign...of course we are concern because we are GREATLY affected whatever economic crisis US is facing.
ReplyDeleteI get your point, there's no need of so much DRAMA for his inauguration
It's a turning point in history and this day will be remembered...but considering the crisis that the economy is facing.. it's really confusing whether to spend or not to spend such a huge amount.
ReplyDeleteWell, from what they were saying on TV here, the presiential inauguration was funded by several rich supporters, and much of it may have been for added security.
ReplyDeleteIt's still going right now, so I just hope things go well.
I don't know how greatly this affects everyone in the Philippines, but I'm sure it affects everyone worldwide somehow.
I see it directly where I live as stores and restaurants close down and people losing jobs and more layoffs are rumored to happen soon in various sectors of government and private business.
It IS a historic time for the U.S., but it's also a time to get the nation back on its feet. I hope and pray that will happen soon.
I don't even want to go there...but it's indeed a LOT of MONEY. Pinakamalaking gastos daw ang security but still...
ReplyDeleteSana nga may magawa sya sa ekonomiya kasi we're all affected by this economic slump....pati blogging...maryosep at may 25 cents na ngayon...an all time low....

@ renz & sugar: i guess balls will be balls. but i think a little austerity is called for.
ReplyDelete@ randomguru: donations from rich patrons? in exchange for favors from the US president later on? the donations could have worked wonders to the real needy ones.
@ huling: i just hope America is right in election Obama as a lot rests on his leadership.
25 cents per post is an insult. but the opps are in grey.. meaning bloggers are desperate enough to do such posts!!!
