We have gone sparkly for the past ten years or so to greet the New Year. We (actually, my hubby) had stopped buying firecrackers because they are unsafe. Years and years ago, it was customary in this third world town to fire guns like AR-7 and M-16 instead of firecrackers. Every other house in the neighborhood had guns then and everyone joined in the shooting revelry at New Year's eve. Indeed.Truly. Guilty. Now don't go judging me. My backyard had a short span shooting range and that was were we empty shells. I know! I was young and insipid then. Now, I'm old and insipid. Anyway, here was how we greeted 2009.
Kakatuwa naman. Dito sparkly din....sa ibang lugar. Kami? Tulog....hahaha. I was not feeling well so tulog na lang....

ReplyDeleteYour story reminds me of my first night in Jerusalem. We arrived at the college, fresh off the plane from America, and what's going off but a bunch of guns! Scared the stuffing out of us. We thought we had entered into a war zone.
Nope. Just a wedding happening. They shoot machine guns into the air as a way of celebrating. It sure made for a night to remember, LOL!

ReplyDeleteUy ako din nagulat nung mabasa ko yung pagkamatay nung anak ni John Travolta. Sa mga interviews kasi sa kanya it's obvious na mahal na mahal nya yung 2 anak nya. It's very sad talaga and he's only 16.
