I thought the Olympics is an organization composed only of the International Olympics Committee and sub committees. I was wrong. There is actually a bigger picture presented as the Olympic Movement. The Olympic Movement's goal is to contribute to building a peaceful and better world by educating youth through sport practised without discrimination of any kind and in the Olympic spirit, which requires mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play.It is composed of the International Olympics Committer (IOC), Organizing Committees of the Olympics Games (OCOG), the National Olympic Committees (NOC), the International Federations (IF), the national associations, clubs and of course the athletes.A breakdown of each component will reveal that there are 205 NOCs, 35 IFs and 3-4 OCOGs. The Beijing Olympics has about 12 major sponsors like Coke and McDonalds. about 25,000 broadcasters are expected to be at Beijing and some 8,000 media. An estimated 13,000 athletes will grace the Beijing Olympics with an expected 4.7 million spectators from a world population of 6.5 million. Awesome!
