Vicks Vaporub is a mentholated topical cream intended to assist with minor medical conditions that temporarily impair breathing, including the common cold. It is applied to the chest, often immediately before sleeping, or inhaled by melting it in very hot water - and that what was I have been doing for the longest time. Well, there's a new way to use the medicated ointment. I tried it myself and applied it to Ethan and to my son too.It worked!

To stop night-time coughing in a child or an adult, put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime and then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about five minutes, and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. I had cough and cold when I tried this and I was really relieved. This works 100 percent of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition,it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. The Canada Research Council described these findings by their scientists when they were investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like acupressure. It was found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime and in addition to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on sleep soundly.

Vicks is great! My husband's mother used it on him when he was a child, and my mother used it on me, too.
