Identity theft or identity fraud is the term used to types of crimes that involve someone wrongfully obtaining and using another person's personal data for personal benefits especially financial gain. A report of 800,000 identity theft connected to credit cards alone were reported for 2007. For online shoppers this type of theft is definitely alarming. I, too, am extremely wary in using a credit card for online transactions.

There is a new service available for online shoppers to protect them from identity fraud. Shop Shield® is a new service to protect consumers from identity theft and fraud when you shop online.Visit Shop Shield® and know how the company can protect consumers with their:

Every single personally identifiable information is broken into undecipherable fragments, then encrypted. Every single transaction is monitored and recorded in ways surpassing the highly strict standards of Federal banks. Shop Shield® offer is 100% guaranteed and the best part is, it's FREE!

The site is currently conducting a live-beta test signing up consumers for usability testing. Why not sign up and experience for yourself Shop Shield®. 3. The best way i think to make you feel secure about credit card payments is to utilize your paypal. Most of the online stores these days have their paypal checkout so this saves you from giving your credit card number and info to ten entities...you only give to one entity, paypal.

I know that it is not really secure to give your cc number online. i worked in an entity before that i had all info aboyr peoples' cc info and all their personal info. If i was a little wicked, i could take some amount fepm all of them, and to count that they are many.... so I am attesting to the insecurity of using cc online. If it's ok, a debit card will do as well, at least the amount is limited, in case some one tries to steal or something.
