Mary McCormack plays the role of Mary Shannon in USA Network's new original series In Plain Sight. The series had its US premiere on June 1, 2008. Mary's job of protecting Federal witnesses is tasking enough. Add to the equation that she also has to keep her real job a secret from her own family.
I kind of identify with Mary. Her job calls for her to be a different person on various occasions. She turns into a mother, therapist, best friend, maid of honor, priest, rabbi, marriage counselor, employment agent, bodyguard, and sometimes, homicide detective. As a mother, I do have different characters too. I am a driver, nanny, cook, tutor, best friend, fashion consultant, sounding board and a mother too. Mary's mother, Jinx, reminds me of one of my acquaintances. This mom had stopped working the moment her children started working and demands that her children support her. Anyway, who am I to judge her as long as mother-children relationship is well and good.
