Doctor's Order

I just had my monthly check-up and suffice it to say that I was not contented with my doctor's consult. He barely did a physical examination! All he did was asked questions that were mostly rhetorical. He kept on fidgeting on his seat for he said the air conditioner was freezing. The ACU was centralized and there was no way for him to control the temperature. Heck! I was wearing short sleeves and I thought the cool air was fantastic. Anyway, I thought that my doctor would request for a complete laboratory and blood chemistry tests before he could decide whether to lower or up my medication dosage. Well, he did not and that troubles me. How can he decide to lower the dosage of my medication without even knowing my present blood chemistry results? So! I told daughter # 1 to get a request for a complete blood test and blood chem. I also told her to ask my doctor if I could take ephedra diet pill for a short time so I could lose some more weight fast. I have two very important events to attend and I definitely want to look my best.

The Curse of the Broken Doorknob

Every so often I see myself with a broken doorknob. It maybe that the brand of doorknobs that I have been buying is inferior quality wise or I have the "broken-door-knob" curse! Remember the post I did about Ethan being trapped inside my bedroom because the doorknob jammed and failed to open? That was one heck of an experience. A few weeks ago, the knob of the door opening to the terrace jammed too and we all had to go around the house to get to the terrace. The other day, I had a heck of a time looking for my househelp. I was in kitchen calling for her for a good 10 minutes and she still won't answer. I was about to blow my top when I heard I faint call coming from inside the bathroom located near the utility room. It was Rose, my househelper. She locked herself in the bathroom and can't get out. It took me another 15 minutes or so to locate the bathroom keys for who the heck keeps bathroom keys? This morning, my hubby went in my son's bedroom to get some stuff. My son only comes home in the weekends thus his bedroom is rarely used. What do you know? The door knob trim came loose and no matter what my hubby did it won't stay put. Solution? Take the whole door hardware out and replace it with a new one. So. What is it with me and wrecked doorknobs? I guess it's time to get high quality door hardware now. As in now!

Slow Internet Connection

My broadband connection is so slow that I could actually take a nap before my browser opens. Well, that's a wee bit exaggerated. Anyway I have not been able to do much blog hopping because of the slow connection as I don't have the time nor the patience for that. I called my internet provider yesterday to complain. My broadband speed should be from 2 MB up. My speed is actually below 500 kb and that is pretty slow for me and my kids. The tech support person asked me to test my internet's speed at a specific website. I told I already did but he countered that I should test it 3 times and get the average. I've actually tested the speed about 4 times but I obliged just to humor him. After registering speeds of 406, 530 and 480, the tech support finally agreed that "yes, your speed is 60% below the accepted norm for your bundle". Duh?! So, Mr. Tech support told me to wait for up to three days for their repairman to service the central panel in my vicinity.

In line with this, I have not been dropping ECs, blog hopping and commenting on blogs. So dear readers, desperateblogger is incapacitated due to technical difficulties. Regular service will be back as soon as possible. Please bear with me.

Did the Diet Work?

Daughter #2 is serious about losing some poundage. Remember the diet plan we both tried two weeks ago? Well, the diet, although quite harsh and unhealthy proved to be effective for her. Not because the diet really works but because daughter # 2 was a picky eater and ate so little or did not eat at all. Bad diet plan. It's as if the root word of diet is die. The diet shook daughter # 2's system. The weight lost was mostly water, not actually fat. I lost a total of 3 pounds in a week while daughter #2 lost 8. My lost was minimal for I have been in a low fat-low salt diet since April that my body did not have much fluid to flush out. Did the diet work? In a way. Daughter # 2 repeated the week-long diet after a three-day diet break. However I still believe that the key to losing weight is less food intake and more physical activity. Stir away from high-caloric and high in fat food. If you choose to use diet supplements be sure to check out the product ever so carefully by reading reviews about them.

Birthday Souvenir Item

I am in quandary as to what to what item to get as souvenirs for my ma-in-law's 80th birthday. Our choreographer suggested I have 150 mini bahay kubo or nip huts hand-made by my carpenter. I looked at him side ways and he got my meaning: dude! are you kidding me? My trip to Divisoria, Manila's premiere bargain district, was fruitless as the souvenirs being hawked on the sidewalks are way too tacky for my taste. I browsed online for souvenir ideas and found these personalized tote bags. I think these are practical items as our guests could actually use them. At $1.50 per, the bag is within my budget. The site indicates that I could have any text printed on the eco-friendly bags.
