A favorite nephew recently migrated to Australia. He is a chemical engineer by profession, in his mid 30's and still single. He decided to try his luck abroad not for the lack of a fulfilling job here but for a more passionate reason: to spread his wings, so to speak. Before leaving for Sydney, he already had a string of potential employers in his field of work. However, he is not limiting himself to a specific job genre because he is also looking into the possible IT jobs and other fields directly or indirectly connected to his expertise. Nephew said he used www.techcareers.com to look for potential employers. The site is free to join and you can post your resume for employers to find. A registered member can set job alert when a matching job i posted. Well, it's a whole new world downunder for nephew. I wonder when I could visit - all expenses paid.

I had a talk with my neighbor yesterday. She is a retired government employee - a former treasurer of a high profile government agency. One would think that she should be living the life right now - you know -retirement benefits et al. She told me that she's considering applying for a teaching job at a local college. Bored? I asked. Yes and I could really use the pay. Whatever happened to her retirement money? Gone already? She and her husband have been sickly lately. Maybe the money was used for medical expenses. What's my point? Life.Is.Hard. There's just no looking forward to retirement now. Do I need to look for a job at this point and time of my life?

I am actually considering going back to a 9 to 5 job. There's an offer for me and I think I will set an appointment for an interview next week. My only concern is I have not been an "employee" for the last 20 years and I might not like having a "boss". I was browsing the net the other day and started clicking ads for jobs abroad. There were so many jobs offered all across the USA. I clicked on jobs in New Jersey. Hundreds of jobs in different fields are available. I clicked on Boston Legal Jobs and a total of 1,484 legal jobs in Boston were displayed. That being said, why are there so many people out of job? Simple. There are companies that are folding and there are companies that are not. There are qualified people for the job and then there are those who are not. How I wish I could just wave my magic wand and make the whole world worry-free.

Daughter #4 is in her last trimester of school. Hopefully, she will graduate this December with a double degree in BS Applied Economics and BS Management of Financial Institutions. It has long been assumed that she will further her education by getting into law school. After 5 years of intensive studying, she said she feels the need for a year off school. She said she wants to experience working in the corporate world even for year. Currently she and some of her batch mates are now receiving offers of jobs in business establishments and corporations. Good sign, right? I hope that she opts for the job that has the most to offer in terms of time flexibility in the event that she goes back to school.

My brother and his family have been living in New Jersey for the last 15 years. He loves it there for his house is in an ideal location. It's near the school, so his two kids can walk to school. It's about 4 miles away from his office that he actually saves up on gas. The thing is, living in New Jersey is expensive. He is seriously thinking of relocating and has started looking for Atlanta jobs. He has some friends who have moved to Atlanta and feedback is good. Oh well, maybe next time I visit it will be in Atlanta.
