A favorite nephew recently migrated to Australia. He is a chemical engineer by profession, in his mid 30's and still single. He decided to try his luck abroad not for the lack of a fulfilling job here but for a more passionate reason: to spread his wings, so to speak. Before leaving for Sydney, he already had a string of potential employers in his field of work. However, he is not limiting himself to a specific job genre because he is also looking into the possible IT jobs and other fields directly or indirectly connected to his expertise. Nephew said he used www.techcareers.com to look for potential employers. The site is free to join and you can post your resume for employers to find. A registered member can set job alert when a matching job i posted. Well, it's a whole new world downunder for nephew. I wonder when I could visit - all expenses paid.

Swine flu scare or not, school has started in this part of the world. Some schools' opening was postponed for a week due to swine flu scare. Yesterday, daughter # 2 was furious because the school where she teaches is not so vigilant about feverish students who were in school. Right! Students with fever should be sent right home to prevent the spread of diseases. I find it humorous to see people wearing face masks while gallivanting about malls and other public places. Why? Those facial masks are pretty useless in preventing viral or bacterial infections because they are too porous.
The constant threat of disease, accidents, mugging and sometimes terrorism led me to think that nowadays, it is a lot better and in the long run cheaper to earn a degree online. I have been toying in with the idea of earning a master's degree for the longest time and I think the time is ripe for me to get one. Now, what masteral degree is right for me? Browsing online I chanced upon an online university that offers Masters of Science in Information Security. Interesting really as cyberspace or the web or the internet is filled with hackers and viruses and what-have-you that threatens the government, businesses and every common individuals like you and me.The masteral course offers two majors: managerial concentration and technical concentration. Managerial Information Security is perfect for IT analysts, managers, and others who deal with IT securities' and policies' examination and audit. Technical Information Security deals with the implementation of security measures and policies.
Quite interesting. The online university is Lewis University and the school even offers financial help for deserving applicants and students. I would look further into this and who knows?! I might actually take the course.
